I first found the Gentle Barn when these 4 calves were rescued from a dairy farm where it is normal to get the cows pregnant so they can make milk and then take the babies away within minutes of birth. And since the farmers don't want to spend money to raise the calves, they are just beat to death over the head with a hammer or put in cells to just die, starved with no food or water. WHAT, right? Did you know this was happening? Anyway, today months later these calves are finally healed and out of quarantine and running free for the first time! Tears. Sweetness. And the Gentle Barn is AWESOME. I can't wait to go visit them...
